We are going to be starting My Fathers World Exploring Countries and Cultures in August and I can honestly say I am really excited. My 9 year old is not so thrilled to have to get back to school, but I guess that is to be expected.
My 4 year old Noah, though, is what has me puzzled. I would love to do the preschool curriculum with him, but all he seems to be interested in is cars, cars, and cars. Lol! Anyone have any suggestions? I am already dreading teaching Lauren and trying to do preschool with him at the same time. I know he will "grow" out of this phase and I really do not want to push him since he won't even fully develop his language skills for the next few years. Preschool needs to be fun and educational both. Now if I can only hide the fact that he will be learning during his play..........

Why not start homepreschool with a simple unit on transportation? It is one of the traditional preschool topics. You could even play other units that incorporate his interests: Learn about other countries while learning about airplanes, learn about tractors while learning about farms and farm products, learn about boats and the ocean, etc. (Most boys who love cars love these other things, too.)
I wouldn't worry too much about "Kindergarten readiness." Readiness is a God-given timeline--and each child is different. As homeschoolers, we don't have to make our children ready for school--we can make our homeschool ready for them.
Many little boys mature more slowly than girls do, and do best starting Kindergarten at age 6. If he continues to be disinterested, I'd consider waiting till then.
